Sketching at Rotto

Enjoyed a few says of bike riding, hiking, snorkeling and sketching at Rottnest Island – it always  makes me feel like I have been away for ages.  Above a water colour of Salmon Bay.

Visitors to the balcony – wouldn’t stay still but were good to get the eye in.

I don’t do landscapes very often – this is of the salt lakes water colour with pen – trying to capture the pink and blue water.

The Welcome Swallows trying to bet warm on the balcony the next morning.

Banded stilts – I had to sneak up on them!

Last the New Zealand fur seals at West End – this was a real challenge – I used binculars in my left hand and used my left elbow to hold down the book in the windy conditions while drawing with my right hand – all this after cycling 10k to get there!  I think this is my favorite because it does so capture what they were doing.
